How does SMARTfloor work?

SMARTfloor is a groundbreaking movement concept that appeals to people of all ages and interests. It combines an interactive sensor floor with innovative AI technology to create a completely new learning experience. The system captures every small movement and processes it using the latest technologies and artificial intelligence. SMARTfloor flexibly adapts to the room and its target audience, and can be used in conjunction with various devices— from monitors and projectors to TVs, tablets, and smartphones.

Sensor Surface Meets AI

The heart of SMARTfloor is the multisensory surface that precisely detects even the smallest movements. Artificial intelligence processes the data in real time in the PlayBox, which then transmits the gaming experience to an end device such as a monitor, TV, projector or smartboard via HDMI.

SMARTfloor offers a wide range of potential applications for AI technology in the future. In addition to object recognition and the analysis of movement patterns, AI also enables applications in the healthcare and rehabilitation sector, for example for fall prevention or gait analysis. In sport, it improves training and performance diagnostics, while in industry it supports ergonomic optimization and safety monitoring. New opportunities are also opening up in the smart home and accessibility sectors, for example for controlling devices or supporting people with limited mobility.

Learning experience with highly sensitive sensors

SMARTfloor’s innovative sensor floor is divided into numerous small, highly sensitive triangles. The sensors, ranging from 380 x 380 mm (SMARTfloor Mobile) to 500 x 500 mm (SMARTfloor Puzzle), detect pressure and movement with millimeter precision. This enables a new learning experience in any room.

Individual calibration of the sensor fields

Each of the sensor fields is divided into eight equally sized areas. Using the calibration function on the SMARTfloor PlayBox, you can easily adjust the sensitivity of each individual area to suit your needs. This enables trouble-free and accurate detection of your movements, regardless of weight and pressure intensity.

Scratch is a visual programming language that uses graphical blocks, making it particularly suitable for beginners. No prior programming knowledge is required, so it is accessible from grade 5 onward. SMARTfloor, with its motion-based input method, serves as a motivation driver and enables a varied and creative learning experience.

SMARTfloor Ready-Games

Moving and learning: With a comprehensive selection of learning and movement games for every target group, Sensorboden simultaneously promotes physical activities and mental skills. The selection of learning and movement games is constantly being expanded so that the playful and interactive components keep motivation high.

SMARTfloor Hub

With the SMARTfloor Hub, learning never gets boring. In addition to an extensive selection of pre-programmed learning games, users can develop their own learning and movement games on the digital platform. The applications are created using the Scratch programming language and are therefore very user-friendly. In just a few steps, exciting learning and movement games can be developed to encourage more movement, regardless of the age group.

With the integration of additional sensors, such as heartbeat and movement sensors on the body, many other dimensions can be opened up that go beyond traditional learning and playful experiences. The learning and movement games are more fun in the long term and training becomes more effective.

SMARTfloor PlayBox

The SMARTfloor PlayBox is the connecting device for all SMARTfloor variants. It ensures image transmission to any HDMI-compatible display and reliable power supply for the sensor floor. An intuitive 5″ color touch display allows for configuring the sensor fields, adjusting their sensitivity, and changing keyboard layouts.
